I asked Tim to help write something for the Bulldog hockey program about Jimmy.... and I wanted to share what he wrote.
Through the early morning fog that peacefully floats above the fresh ice comes a familiar figure, in red, black, and white skates Jimmy Amato, happily leaving his mark on the clean surface. With every crack his blades made, and every determined breath he took, it was easy to realize that there was nowhere else that this caring, respectful team leader would rather be. As Jimmy’s second home, the hockey rink was a place to forget the outside world, meet his teammates, and just skate, pass, and shoot. Just as Jimmy left the cracks in the ice from every stride, he left an indelible impression on all around him whether it was on the ice or in the locker room. Jimmy will always be remembered as one of the hardest working, unselfish, and unwavering team players that wanted nothing more than to be the leader. Russell James Marco Amato continues to be an example for all hockey players now and those to come, the determined captain, and loving friend. It is because of these qualities that the cuts in the ice from Jimmy’s skates will never be forgotten, and why Jimmy’s legacy, number 24, will remain at his second home, and in our hearts always as a loving member of the Bulldog Hockey Family.
